The assessment is suitable for all children under 18 months of age. It is aimed at children who show signs of having developmental delays and/or other disorders.
- You will be given a child history form to be completed prior to the assessment day.
- The assessment is performed using the H.E.L.P. (Hawaii Early Learning Profile). It provides you with your child’s developmental levels measured against peers of their own age.
- H.E.L.P. is a widely-recognised assessment for infants and toddlers. The assessment is comprehensive and family centred. It is designed to help give an accurate picture of your child’s developmental accomplishments and challenges.
- Your child will be assessed in different developmental areas and will receive a score in each area. The assessment covers a large number of developmental areas including:
- Gross motor (larger body movements)
- Fine motor (smaller body movements e.g. with fingers and toes)
- Language
- Cognition (process of acquiring knowledge and understanding)
- Self-help
- Social emotional
- You will receive preliminary results verbally on the day of the assessment.
- You will receive a full report approximately two weeks after the assessment.
- After receiving the report, you can schedule a parent meeting for a more detailed discussion of the assessment results.
