We were delighted to have the Special Smile Dental Project for the second consecutive year at the CDC. The free service was organised by the Dental Command of Hong Kong St. John Ambulance Brigade and sponsored by The Community Chest of Hong Kong. On the 8th and 9th of November 2016, Dr. Sham and his service team delivered dental check-ups for our children and a parent talk on oral health.

The dental project was welcomed by CDC parents with great enthusiasm. All available check-up slots were taken up and a number of families were able to come along to the parent talk.

With the team’s careful preparation, a therapy room at the CDC was transformed into a dental clinic, furnished with a dentist chair and professional instruments to provide safe dental examination services for CDC students. Dr. Sham and his team were very thorough in the oral examinations, consultations with parents and referrals. The team worked hard to create a relaxing environment for students, giving encouragement and praise to students who were anxious about the check-up. St. John Ambulance Brigade gave all the students a sticker to acknowledge their participation and courage.

Apart from the check-up, Dr. Sham also gave a talk on oral health and addressed parents’ concerns. We hope that the talk has enhanced parents’ understanding of oral hygiene.’Smile!’
