During this difficult period of time, we strive to develop stronger relationships with our partners to connect with and inspire people who are looking for ways to contribute to the SEN community.
In these challenging times, the CDC has continued to work closely with our charity and business partners to promote our mission and services to the public. By being part of these meaningful and fun events, we ensure that more children and families in need can receive quality learning support.
Here we capture the highlights of recent events that the CDC participated in and benefited from!
100km MacLehose Trail Charity Hike
Four secondary school students, Jack Ryan, Gabriel Löwy, Jaden Cheng and Martin Lau Yan-chak, successfully completed the longest trail in Hong Kong, the 100km MacLehose trail, within 36 hours in March and raised more than $400,000 for the CDC! Being the sole beneficiary from this challenging event, the CDC is grateful for the tremendous support we received from donors, and we are excited to be able to help even more children with additional developmental or learning challenges and their families.
Zumba Dance Online Classes
A big thank you to Matilda International Hospital for organising the Zumba Dance online classes for the CDC families! Parents and children alike enjoyed moving and dancing at home together led by our amazing instructor, Ms Jasmine Wu.
SCMP Virtual Learning Festival 2021
For the safety of families, the SCMP Learning Festival became an online event this year. The CDC was excited to participate in the festival’s first online event! On the day, 125 visitors attended our virtual booth to enquire about the programmes and services we offer.
Mark Six Lottery
Being one of the beneficiaries in the Social Welfare Department’s Lotteries Fund Projects, the CDC was invited to monitor the Mark Six Draw at the Hong Kong Jockey Club in March. The proceeds from the Mark Six Lottery is the main source of income of the Lotteries Fund from which the CDC receives an annual grant allocated by the SWD.
Online Talk about SEN Community for Maryknoll Convent School
Our teaching team provided an online talk for members of Maryknoll Convent School Zonta Club in early April. The topic was ‘How to support children with SEN in the community’. Nearly 30 participants attended the Zoom talk and afterwards were presented with certificates of completion.
Yew Chung College of Early Childhood Education Careers Fair
The CDC attended the Yew Chung College of Early Childhood Education (YCCECE) Careers Fair. Many students studying to become early childhood education professionals approached us to learn more about the job opportunities and services the CDC offers.
Cooking Fundraising Event by the CACEIS
In April, a cooking fundraising event was held internally at asset-servicing company, CACEIS. We are grateful that CACEIS chose the CDC as the only beneficiary and successfully raised HK$30,000 during this fun event to help support our services.
Education University of Hong Kong Virtual Career Fair 2021
The CDC participated in the EdUHK Virtual Career Fair, giving us a chance to share our job opportunities with students who are committed to working with children with additional learning needs in the future.
The CDC treasures opportunities to connect with the community and we make every effort to empower schools, equip teachers and educate parents.
