Special Needs Network Hong Kong (SNNHK) is delighted to host this one-day workshop with Kim Barthel.
The workshop will cover brain functions, current neuroscience and its application to our children. Through a series of lectures, participants will leave with a multi-dimensional understanding of the brain and how it affects speech and language, sensory processing, cognition, emotional and self-regulation, motor planning, vision, behaviours, mitochondrial function and the gut. This workshop is appropriate for parents/caregivers, clinicians and educators.
Learning objectives:
An understanding of:
- Brain functions and neurotransmitters
- How neuroscience affects cognitive, behaviour and therapeutic intervention
- The importance of attunement on the brain structures involved in attention, learning and emotional regulation
- The science of sensory processing as it contributes to regulation and behaviour

Kim is a world-renowned teacher and occupational therapist, actively supporting multi-disciplinary functions and healing in many cultures internationally. She is a pioneer in reinforcing the importance of relationship in therapy and education and blending the art of intuitive inquiry with cutting-edge developments in neuroscience. Kim’s specialties include Developmental Delays, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Mental Health, Complex Behaviour, Sensory Processing, Attachment, the Visual/Vestibular System and Neuro-Developmental Treatment.
