SNNHK: Schooling in Focus
21 May 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm HKT
HKD100Finding the right school for our children with special needs is a daunting and often frustrating task. In Hong Kong where school places are limited, waiting lists are long and local SEN schools present language barriers, it’s easy to see why this is a headache for many of us. There is also the concern that over time, the selected school may not be able to appropriately accommodate the needs of our developing (and sometimes diagnosis-evolving) children.
Trisha Tran, a fellow parent of a child with global development delay, has been advocating for an increase in the number, scope and quality of school places for non-Chinese speaking SEN children since 2014. She has carried out extensive research on private and public schooling options in Hong Kong. In her upcoming talk on May 21st, she will be sharing her research on navigating the different educational routes available in Hong Kong, and offering tips on her approach to advocating for more support.
Whether you are about to embark on this mission or already have children attending a school, this talk will offer you invaluable advice and tips.
