Level 2 Workshop: “Oral Placement Therapy: Assessment And Program Plan Development” (2-Day)

The participants will learn to diagnose dysarthria, dyspraxia (apraxia) and motor planning deficits when doing an evaluation. Hierarchical assessment criteria will be adapted to diagnose the muscle-based deficits in jaw-lip-tongue structure and functioning. Evaluation of oral functional activities in Respiration, Phonation, Resonance and Articulation will be based on the therapeutic techniques learned in OPT Level 1 workshop. Participants will be guided to write a comprehensive Oral Placement/ Feeding/ Speech Program Plan.
Level 2 Learning Outcomes
You will be able to:
- Identify Oral Placement, Sensory, Feeding and/or Speech Deficits in clients
- Assess Oral Placement deficits in Jaw-Lip-Tongue functions
- Design a step-by-step Program Plan based on the clients’ Oral Placement/ Feeding/ Speech Evaluation
- Apply Oral Placement strategies, when appropriate, with infant, preschool, and schoolaged children and students with muscle-based feeding and/or speech clarity issues.
