Experience Dyslexia
10 November 2016 @ 7:15 pm - 9:15 pm HKT
HKD150
Parents, teachers and other professionals may have an academic understanding of the problems faced by individuals with dyslexia, but we may not fully grasp their feelings of anxiety, frustration and failure.
“Experience Dyslexia” is a simulation designed to provide a semblance of that experience and increase awareness of the difficulties that learners with dyslexia encounter daily with reading, handwriting and listening. Participants will rotate among six learning stations that simulate various language-related tasks similar to those encountered in the classroom and workplace. We hope this experience will provide insight into working more effectively with students with dyslexia and lead to greater empathy and understanding.
Tickets are available from now until October 27. Just follow this link to the Ticketflap site to register – https://www.ticketflap.com/experiencedyslexia
Please note that because of the time needed to assemble the materials and set up this event, we really need to know how many people to cater for well in advance, and so the closing date for booking tickets will be earlier than usual.
Also we will need a minimum of 21 participants for the event to go ahead.
On November 17 there will be a follow-up workshop “Overcoming Dyslexia” on ways teachers and parents can help learners surmount the obstacles highlighted in the simulation. This will include tips on reading, writing, listening and how technology can help. Booking details will be out soon.
