DIR 101 – Foundation Course for Professionals

The Child Development Centre (CDC) is delighted to host Colette Ryan, ICDL expert level therapist and training leader in the DIRFloortime model, to deliver the ‘ICDL DIRFloortime® Training Programme’ workshops. The programme offers the world’s most recognised and respected DIRFloortime® training and certificates.

This training will introduce and examine the Developmental, Individual difference, Relationship-based (DIR) model, which is an established and recognised framework to understand a child’s development, developed by Dr. Stanley Greenspan. DIR explains a child’s developmental stages, individual differences, and the role emotion and relationships have in a child’s development. The training will present an introduction to the DIRFloortime approach, with the developmentally appropriate interactions, interventions, and practices geared to each child’s developmental profile. The DIR model is applicable for all children and the DIRFloortime approach is particularly useful as an intervention for children with Autism and other developmental differences. The course will include PowerPoint, video examples, and discussion.

Completion of DIR 101 qualifies participants to register for the DIRFloortime advanced practitioner courses beginning with DIR 201: Promoting Basic Functional Emotional Developmental Capacities.

Guest Speaker – Colette Ryan

Colette Ryan is an ICDL (Interdisciplinary Council on Development and Learning) expert level therapist and training leader in the DIRFloortime model developed byDr. Stanley Greenspan. She is also the Director of Curriculum for ICDL. Colette has been using the DIRFloortime model for over 19 years and has spoken at conferences in New York City, Orlando Florida, Kiev, and more. She is a certified Special Educator and a New York State Endorsed Infant Mental Health Family Support therapist. She provides parent coaching both online and in person for the ICDL Center in Livingston New Jersey as well as providing Floortime services to infants, preschoolers, children, and adolescents in New Jersey and New York.
