CAISE Forum – Life Planning Education for Students with SEN
25 August 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm HKT
Life Planning Education for Students with SEN: A fusion of Hong Kong SAME schools highlight and insights from the Educational trip at Newcastle, U.K.
The notion of Self-Directed Learning across all levels of SEN was introduced to the SAME Network schools as the basis of Life Planning Education in 2016. Both Botton Village School and Hadrian School in Newcastle, U.K. demonstrated how self-determination may become ubiquitous learning experiences and a fusion of the environment, a well planned curriculum, and well-grasped conceptual framework in the leadership. Ms. Wong gave her personal account during the trip witnessing how participating teachers and principals were transformed into self-directed leaders in the process of autonomous learning, purposeful engagement and related collaboration. A Professional Development Day program that followed immediately became the first experiment of a collegial self-determined professional team leading to a sustainable mid-management force in the SAME Network schools.
