Where East Meets West: Interdisciplinary Approaches on Behavioral Health and Behavioral Interventions
10 July 2016 @ 9:00 am - 15 July 2016 @ 5:00 pm HKTHKD5000
Behavioral health is an emerging and energetic discipline that has gained much recent attention in view of the growing threat of non-communicable diseases (NCD) and emerging infectious diseases. There is a consensus that it is important to improve population health through initiation of behavioral changes. Yet, behavioral health is at a developmental stage in Asia and there are not many training opportunities in the region. With that background, The Hong Kong Society of Behavioral Health is pleased to announce a new workshop “ Interdisciplinary approaches on behavioral health and behavioral interventions” that will be held in July 2016 at The JC School of Public Health and Primary Care, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. The Hong Kong Society of Behavioral Health is teaming up with Prof. David Seal, Professor and Vice Chair of The Department of Global Community Health and Behavioral Sciences at Tulane University, to develop and deliver this workshop.
The workshop will offer a unique perspective from both the East and West. It highlights important approaches for conducting behavioral health research and implementation to improve population health. It also gives opportunity for future collaboration and growth in this field. Target audience includes Hong Kong and international students, researchers and teachers who are working or interested to work in the vast areas of behavioral health.
The workshop will be 6-days from Sunday July 10, 2016 to Friday July 15, 2016 with a total of 36 contact hours. The full 6-day course will be HKD5,000 OR HKD1,250 per day (HKSBH members will receive a 10% discount). Accommodation will be provided on campus from July 9-16 at an additional cost of HKD963 for international participants only.
