Topic 4: Workshop on Best practice assessment in health professional education
June 21 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm HKT
Assessment is key to student learning, it defines for the student what is important to learn and how to demonstrate they have learnt it. Furthermore, assessment in health professional education is the strategy by which we assure the public that our graduates are indeed ready for practice. There are many assessment options available to educators but selecting the best tools and strategies to evaluate whether learning outcomes have been achieved by the student is challenging. This is further complicated by different conceptualisations of competency as a curriculum outcome. The nature of competency and assessment strategies that are likely to support its development will be discussed.
